Cherry and Doyen still in the mix

The possibility of Godolphin being without a runner in the Prix De l’Arc De Triomphe will run into next week although neither Cherry Mix nor Doyen have been ruled out of the Longchamp contest on October 2.

The possibility of Godolphin being without a runner in the Prix De l’Arc De Triomphe will run into next week although neither Cherry Mix nor Doyen have been ruled out of the Longchamp contest on October 2.

According to racing manager Simon Crisford, Sheikh Mohammed will decide on any Arc plans next week.

Crisford said: “We have a number of horses left in the race and will decide next week whether Cherry Mix goes, while Doyen has plenty of entries including the Arc and races in America.”

Cherry Mix, runner up to Bago in the 2004 Arc, did not disappoint his rider Frankie Dettori when finishing just out of the money in a Group One in Germany last time out.

The Italian was on board Dubawi when that colt worked on Friday and Crisford added: “Frankie was very pleased with him and it’s all systems go for the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes next weekend, where obviously we hope the ground is not like it was for the Guineas meeting (fast).”
