Attraction pencilled in for Atto assignment

Attraction, trained by Mark Johnston, will be lined up for the Grade One Atto Mile in Canada on Sunday week – should the ground at Leopardstown on Saturday prove her undoing.

Last year’s dual Guineas heroine is entered for the Matron Stakes and is reported to be in top form ahead of the Group One contest.

However, Johnston expressed his concern that any rain at the Irish venue could scupper the four-year-old’s chances, and is eyeing the Atto Mile at Woodbine as an alternative.

“The Atto Mile is a fall-back plan in case the ground is softer than good, in which case she won’t run,” the Middleham handler told the Racing Post.

Attraction was last seen on a racecourse finishing fourth behind Sleeping Indian in the Group Three Hungerford Stakes at Newbury last month – her first outing for 91 days.
