The Irish Field have extended their sponsorship of the Irish St Leger until 2008.

The Irish Field have extended their sponsorship of the Irish St Leger until 2008.

The racing and equestrian publication will continue their association with the 300,000 Classic for the next three years, with an option to extend their contract in the future.

“The race has been good to us since we took over sponsorship to coincide with our purchase of the paper in September 2003,” said Leo Powell, managing editor of The Irish Field.

“Its positioning as a genuine Melbourne Cup trial adds significantly to its prestige and we are delighted to support an industry that is so vital the country’s economy.”

Curragh general manager Paul Hensey added: “We are delighted The Irish Field has agreed to continue their association with the Curragh by extending their support of our final Classic race of the year.

“They provide a superb service to our industry and the quality of the paper and professionalism of their journalism is second to none.”

This year’s renewal of the Irish St Leger is on September 17 and will see Vinnie Roe bid for an an unprecedented fifth consecutive win in the race.
