Fallon free to ride Ouija
Kieren Fallon could be reunited with star filly Ouija Board in Saturday’s Group Three September Stakes at Newmarket.
Fallon rode the filly in four of her five starts last year but he has been unable to partner her this season due to his new position as Aidan O’Brien’s stable jockey.
However, with no Flat racing in Ireland on Sunday, Fallon is likely to be free to ride the four-year-old as she completes her comeback from injury.
Jamie Spencer rode Ouija Board when she disappointed on her seasonal debut at the Royal meeting but it was later discovered she had suffered a small stress fracture to her near-fore cannonbone.
Trainer Ed Dunlop reports her to be over that setback now and firmly on course for Saturday’s mile-and-a-half race.
He told the Racing Post: “She worked on Saturday and went very well, and I am cautiously optimistic that everything is going to plan. However, until we get her back onto the racecourse we won’t know for sure.
“I don’t know for certain who will be riding her at Newmarket but the only thing I have said all along is that if Kieren Fallon is available he will ride the filly.”
