Dettori back with four rides

Frankie Dettori looks to have a strong hand on his return from injury with four rides at Newmarket’s July course tomorrow.

The Italian, who has been out of action since breaking his left collarbone at Sandown last month, makes his return to the saddle aboard Godolphin newcomer Princess Nada in division one of the David Thom Memorial EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes.

The half-sister to Dubawi lines up against 11 rivals including the Michael Stoute-trained Short Skirt and John Dunlop’s Zamala.

Dettori then takes the ride of Melodic Score, another Godolphin juvenile making his racecourse bow, in the Renault Master EBF Maiden Stakes.

Dettori and Bayeux complete Godolphin’s line-up at Newmarket in the Breheny Handicap.

The four-year-old gelding has been disappointing this season and is up against some smart performers like Mark Johnston’s Quizzene and Dunlop’s Badam.

Dettori’s final ride of the afternoon is aboard The Jobber in the five-furlong Renault Clio Handicap, and he will be partnering Michael Blanshard’s four-year-old gelding for the first time.

Blanshard is confident he has the right man for the job after his charge, who has won at Sandown and Newbury this season, finished third whe sent off 9-4 favourite at Newbury last time out.

“He’s in good form but it would be nice if the ground dries out a bit more,” said the Upper Lambourn handler.

“Ted Durcan usually rides him well but you always look for the best and we’ve got just that in Frankie.

“He can expect a very easy ride. Anyone could ride him.”
