Cox Seeking more success

New Seeker is set to drop back to Listed company for the Dubai Duty Free Cup at Newbury on September 16.

Trainer Clive Cox is targeting the seven-furlong prize after the five-year-old finished a highly creditable third to Layman in the Group Three Sovereign Stakes at Salisbury last time.

He said: “I think his attempt to make all over that mile spread him a bit thin at Salisbury, although, as the winner of the Britannia and the Hunt Cup, there’s no question he stays a mile.

“I would like to run him in a Listed race next and I’m favouring going down the road to Newbury rather than for a similar event at Haydock.”
