Little-known Belgian Gregory Wathelet pulled off a surprise win over Tim Stockdale in the jump-off for the Osborne Refrigerators Derby Trial, the qualifier for Sunday’s £90,000 (€132,900) DFS British Jumping Derby.

Wathelet, 24, coasted home on Hugo Gesmeray over eight seconds ahead of Stockdale on Fresh Direct Cloudy Night.
