Torrens on top in Chester
Torrens once again showed his liking for Chester’s unique turns by recording his second victory on the Roodee in today’s Blue Square Handicap.
The 11-2 shot was repeating his course and distance success of last month by beating Active Asset by a comfortable length and a half in the extended 10-furlong contest.
Willie Supple held Torrens up on the inside as Interim Payment, the 3-1 favourite, cut out the early running.
The market leader was still in front coming off the final bend tracked by Torrens and once in line for home, the latter went on and was not unduly pressed to hold the runner-up.
The winner was continuing the good recent run of form of Malton trainer Richard Fahey’s runners.
