O’Connor withdraws from Aachen event
Showjumper Cian O'Connor has confirmed that he and his horse Waterford Crystal will not be competing in next week's Nations Cup event in Aachen, Germany.
The controversial rider said the decision was taken due to a re-occurrence of an old injury sustained by the horse.
O'Connor was stripped of his gold medal from the Athens Olympics after Waterford Crystal tested positive for banned drugs.
Two of his colleagues on the Irish showjumping team have since refused to compete alongside him.
