O'Brien reshuffles pack as Ace replaces Oratario

Oratorio will bypass this season’s renewal of the Juddmonte International at York on Tuesday week.

Aidan O’Brien’s colt, who humbled Vodafone Derby hero Motivator in the Coral-Eclipse Stakes, has had a troubled training schedule since winning the Group One event, and failed to prove his fitness in time for the Ebor highlight.

O’Brien told the Racing Post: “He’ll start off cantering later this week but York is going to come too soon for him. We’ll see how he comes along before making plans for later in the season.”

O’Brien hinted that Ace, who finished fifth behind Azamour in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes last month, may now deputise for Oratorio at York.

“He’s in good form and we’ll certainly be having a look at the Juddmonte for him,” added O’Brien.
