Caesar set for Listed class
Caesar Beware is set for a step into Listed company following what his trainer Henry Candy considers a satisfactory run on his seasonal debut at Doncaster yesterday.
The gelding, a winner of three of his four starts as a two-year-old, including the big Sales race on Town Moor, finished just out of the money in the six-furlong Unison Trade Union Positively Public Conditions Stakes, won by Stetchworth Prince.
Candy stressed before the race that the gelding would need his comeback run as he had taken a while to get right having re-joined the trainer after an abortive trip to Dubai in the spring.
“I was reasonably pleased with him and he definitely needed it. The nice thing is that he has come back in good order,” he said.
“We shall look to step him up to seven furlongs next time and I imagine it will be a Listed race although I don’t want him to fly too high at the moment.”
