Good ground preferred for Eswarah George bid
Vodafone Oaks winner Eswarah is reportedly flying ahead of tomorrow’s King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes, although connections are hoping that the ground at Newbury will not be too fast.
Already twice a winner at the Berkshire track, the unbeaten daughter of Unfuwain is the only three-year-old in tomorrow’s 12-strong field and delighted trainer Michael Jarvis when working last weekend.
“She had her last serious workout at the weekend which went extremely well,” said Angus Gold, racing manager to owner Hamdan Al Maktoum.
“Michael could not be more pleased with her and we know she likes Newbury, but in a perfect world we would prefer good ground rather than anything on the fast side.”
Eswarah has been rested since her victory over Something Exciting in the Epsom Classic and is a general 7-1 chance for tomorrow’s mile-and-a-half showpiece.
