Yeats misses King George

Aidan O’Brien will only be represented by Ace in Saturday’s King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes after he announced that Yeats will not take part.

A general 16-1 shot for the main event at Newbury, Yeats was a decisive winner of the Coronation Cup in early June but was subsequently a highly disappointing ninth in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud.

Ace, just beaten by current King George favourite Azamour in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot at York, will now be the ride of Kieren Fallon.

O’Brien told the Racing Post: “Yeats won’t run as we just want to give him more time before his next run.”

The colt holds an entry in next month’s Juddmonte International Stakes at York.
