Behkiyra heads for Classic

Behkiyra is in line for a tilt at the Irish Oaks at the Curragh on July 17 after an impressive victory in a Listed race at Limerick tonight.

The Aga Khan’s filly, who won a Cork maiden on her only previous start, was sent off the 11-4 second favourite for the one-mile-three-furlong Martin Molony Stakes.

Fran Berry was always going well on the daughter of Entrepreneur, who quickly overpowered the leader Unique Pose when required before going clear for a five-length victory.

Trainer John Oxx said: “She is a big, rangy filly, a real good sort.

“She came on a lot for her first run and she will come on further. I suspect she will go to the Irish Oaks next.”

Berry, Oxx and the Aga Khan went on to a double when Kastoria (9-4) landed the Chesser Auctioneers EBF Fillies Maiden.
