Holland returns to saddle at Newcastle

Darryll Holland expects to be back in action at Newcastle tomorrow despite sitting out meetings at Salisbury and Epsom today.

The rider had seven rides booked, but on medical advice he decided to take a further 24 hours off to recover from an ankle injury sustained at Nottingham on Monday.

His agent Terry Norman said: “All the bruising and swelling has come out now, but it’s still very sore and the physio recommended further rest today.

“He had some physio yesterday and he has had more this morning and this afternoon, so I would expect him to be back tomorrow.

“Although the ankle is 100 times better now and he can put weight on it, the physio just thought another day of rest would be a good idea.”

Holland has five rides at Newcastle tomorrow, highlighted by one-time Classic hope Dash To The Top’s seasonal bow in the Listed Hoppings Stakes.
