David Wachman has confirmed Fracas to be an intended runner in the Budweiser Irish Derby at the Curragh on Sunday.

The colt is the 8-1 third favourite with Paddy Power for the race, having finished a respectable fourth to Motivator in the Epsom equivalent last time.

He had previously been unbeaten in three outings and won both the Betfred Classic Trial at Sandown and the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown:

Wachman told the Racing Post: “We’ve decided to let Fracas take his chance on Sunday. I’m happy enough with him and Jamie (Spencer) will ride.”

Three-time Irish Derby winner Aidan O’Brien has Yehudi, Scorpion and Derby fifth Gypsy King engaged at this stage and has not yet ruled out any of the trio.

He said yesterday: “All three colts are possible runners at this stage. We will finalise plans on Friday morning, but all three may run.”
