William Muir is considering all the options for Mister Genepi following the colt’s highly-creditable run in the UltimatePoker.com 2000 Guineas.

Next month’s French Derby at Chantilly over the shortened distance of 10 furlongs is among the possibilities for the son of Mister Baileys, who was seventh to Footstepsinthesand at Newmarket last Saturday.

“We are sitting down and making plans – we were delighted with him,” the trainer said today.

“He was drawn in te wide-open on the outside at Newmarket yet he’s run an absolute blinder to be only beaten four and a half lengths. He runs a solid race every time.

“We are looking at possibly the French Derby as it’s over a mile and quarter now and there’s also the French Guineas.

“I don’t think we’re going to go for the Irish 2000. I don’t want him to keep finishing somewhere between fourth and seventh. It’s not fair, but it is nice to know we’ve got a genuine Group horse.

“I’ve spoken to the International Racing Bureau about the opportunities in Europe for us in the next month or so. There’s a lot for us to go at but we have no firm plans at the moment.

“We were very pleased and he’s come out of the race very well. It wasn’t bad for our first Classic runner.”
