Swallow heads Curragh possibles

Last season’s Irish Derby winner Grey Swallow is among 13 five-day confirmations for the High Chaparral EBF Mooresbridge Stakes at the Curragh on Monday.

The Dermot Weld-trained grey, who was also runner-up in the Irish 2000 Guineas, wound up his Classic campaign finishing well-beaten in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

Reported to have done well throughut the winter months, he could attempt to get his four-year-old career off to a flying start in this Group Three contest over a mile and a quarter.

Weld has also left in Cairdeas while Aidan O’Brien has four to choose from - one-time Vodafone Derby favourite Yeats, Arc fourth Acropolis, Solskjaer and Wolfe Tone.

Yeats has not raced since taking his 100 per cent record to three in the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown last May.

The Sadler’s Wells colt was forced to miss the Epsom showpiece with muscular problems.

Cherokee and Emerald Cat are O’Brien’s pair among eight five-day entries for the Group Three Rock of Gibraltar EBF Tetrarch Stakes in which David Wachman’s Indesatchel is likely to try and follow up his recent success in the Greenham Stakes.

Weld is also double-handed with Elusive Double and Gaff while there are two British possibles in Mick Channon’s Obe Gold and Galeota, trained by Richard Hannon.

The list is completed by the Charles O’Brien-trained Forecourt.
