Hannon maintains pride and joy at Bath
Richard Hannon maintained his grip on the M J Church Maiden Auction Stakes when sending out Green Pride to give him a third success in the race on the bounce at Bath today.
Hannon was worried that the heavy rain which turned the ground soft would count against the son of Piccolo, but it did not stop a gamble developing as he was backed down from 11-4 to 2-1.
After his neck victory over the promising Takoda under Richard Hughes, Hannon’s son and assistant Richard jnr said: “If it had got any worse I might have been tempted to pull him out, but Hughesy was keen to go and the fact that he’d had a run was a massive advantage to him.
“He’s in the Super Sprint as well as a few other good races and is one to look forward to.”
