Ferdy Murphy-trained Joes Edge has won the Scottish Grand National at Ayr, denying Kildare jockey Ruby Walsh an historic Grand Slam of Grand Nationals.

Ferdy Murphy-trained Joes Edge has won the Scottish Grand National at Ayr, denying Kildare jockey Ruby Walsh an historic Grand Slam of Grand Nationals.

Walsh had already won the Nationals in Ireland, Wales and England, and seemed to be on his way as he led by a head on Cornish Rebel coming up to the finish.

However, Joes Edge and jockey Keith Mercer took victory on 20-1 in a photo-finish ahead of the 9-2 favourite.
