Galeota possible for Greenham
Galeota could go on trial for the UltimatePoker.com 2000 Guineas in Saturday’s Lane’s End Greenham Stakes at Newbury.
The Richard Hannon-trained colt won three times last season, taking the Group Two Mill Reef Stakes on his final start of the campaign.
Galeota is entered for Saturday’s Group Three race but he would be tackling the seven-furlong trip for the first time and assistant trainer Richard Hannon jnr is not convinced he will have the stamina for the Guineas mile.
“Galeota’s work has been superb and he could go for the Greenham,” he said.
“He has such a lot of speed. But he has to prove he gets the Guineas trip and if he doesn’t he’ll have to go sprinting and there aren’t that many opportunities for three-year-old sprinters.”
