Kempton abandoned

Officials have been forced to abandoned this afternoon’s card at Kempton Park.

Following a 7.30am inspection, clerk of the course Brian Clifford said: “We had three centimetres of snow overnight and the current temperature is still minus one. There are further snow flurries forecast for the next couple of hours with no significant rise in temperatures before racing.”

Racing is also scheduled for the Sunbury track tomorrow and Clifford added: “We’ll inspect at 4pm for tomorrow.

“The forecast looks more favourable for later this afternoon with temperatures around four degrees, and then tonight the sleety rain we had yesterday is due to come back south again from midnight onwards.

“We’ll see where we are this afternoon and probably end up having another look tomorrow morning.”
