McCoy hopeful O'Neill team back soon

Tony McCoy appeared optimistic today that some of Jonjo O’Neill’s horses would be reappearing during the next month.

O’Neill’s Jackdaw’s Castle stable has been shut for over a month due to a virus and has not had a runner since Quazar ran in the Feltham Chase on Boxing Day.

McCoy partners the majority of horses in the stable, but has had to look elsewhere for his rides recently, even travelling to Musselburgh for one ride today, although there are some O’Neill runners entered in the Totesport Trophy Hurdle Handicap at Newbury on February 12.

“He has given them as much time as possible to make sure they get over what they have had,” McCoy told Racing UK.

“Hopefully he will get them back right for the middle to the end of February, which is the most important time of the whole year.

“If we can get them in good form for coming up to and around Cheltenham, then that would be the most important thing. But they have to be given time, and it is very frustrating for him, but I am sure he will get it sorted.”
