Timmy Murphy will tomorrow face an inquiry into his behaviour towards a Jockey Club official at Fontwell two months ago.

Murphy is believed to have had an altercation with stewards’ secretary Chris Rutter, a former Flat rider, in the jockeys’ changing room following the Sharp Minds Betfair: Back and Lay Handicap Chase at Fontwell Park on November 5.

The Jockey Club disciplinary panel will consider whether Murphy acted in a violent or improper manner towards Rutter after being called before the racecourse stewards.

At an inquiry into the race on the day Murphy, partnering Flinders, was adjudged to have caused interference through careless riding and was banned for two days. He has served the suspension.

No action on the alleged incident was taken at the time, but a report was submitted to the Jockey Club.
