Kempton hero King in good order
Kicking King is reported to be in good health following his thrilling victory in yesterday’s Stan James King George VI Chase at Kempton.
Tom Taaffe’s stable star overcame a massive final-fence blunder to scramble home ahead of Kingscliff and Azertyuiop in the St Steohen's Day showpiece.
“He ate and drank up last night and seems to have taken the race well,” Taaffe said today.
“He was a little stiff this morning but will be fine and will get back to the stables at 6.30 this evening.”
The six-year-old will now be rested until the Cheltenham Festival, with Taaffe set to decide during the first week of March whether the gelding will tackle the new Daily Telegraph Chase or the totesport Gold Cup.
