Wetherby have called a precautionary inspection for 7.30am tomorrow ahead of their afternoon meeting.

The going at the Yorkshire track has eased slightly to good to soft, good in places after some rain yesterday and they have also had a dusting of snow this morning.

Although racing would be able to go ahead at Wetherby today, chief executive Tim Betteridge is slightly concerned by the forecast overnight frost.

“We had a couple of millimetres of rain late yesterday afternoon and into the early evening but temperatures overnight didn’t drop below freezing,” he explained.

“We have had a light dusting of snow this morning but no frost so we would have had no problems in racing today.

“The forecast is for temperatures to go down to minus two tonight which wouldn’t be a problem but we will have an inspection in case the forecast is inaccurate.

“Any worse than forecast could give us a problem but the inspection is purely precautionary.”
