Contact Dancer wins Cesarewitch
Contact Dancer (16-1) just prevailed in a thrilling finish to the marathon totesport Cesarewitch.
Royston Ffrench took it up on the Mark Johnston-trained gelding with two furlongs of the two and a quarter miles to run and he stayed on in grand style to hold 10-1 joint-favourite Mr Ed by half a length.
High Point (50-1) was a head back in third, with Quedex (33-1) fourth.
Ffrench said: ``He was always travelling well and when we went over to the middle I didn't want to disappoint him because he has won over the distance and on the soft.
“I was glad to see the rain yesterday – the more the better for him.”
The rider was successful in this race on Inchcailloch back in 1996 and added: “I did very well as an apprentice but things didn’t go right for me after that, but I am rebuilding my career again.”
