Kieren Fallon was taken to hospital following a bad fall in the penultimate race at Leicester this afternoon.

The champion jockey was aboard Maritima in division two of the EBF Hare Maiden Fillies’ Stakes when the horse was involved in scrimmaging about two furlongs from the finish.

After being unseated from the Sir Michael Stoute-trained filly, Fallon was attended to by paramedics on the track before being put on to a stretcher.

Ladbrokes immediately suspended betting on the jockeys’ championship, for which Frankie Dettori was 1-10 favourite following a treble this afternoon.
