Doyen's work is just Champion

Doyen is reported to be back on song ahead of a possible crack at the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes at Newmarket next Saturday.

Godolphin’s four-year-old was hugely disappointing in the Irish Champion Stakes on his last start when he was well beaten behind Azamour, finishing in seventh place.

Connections initially said Doyen was unlikely to run again this season, but the Sadler’s Wells colt has been impressing on the Newmarket gallops and is entered for next weekend’s Group One event.

Trainer Saeed Bin Suroor said today: “He worked yesterday and he worked really well. Frankie (Dettori) rode him and he was very happy with him.

“Why he ran badly in Ireland I don’t know, but he’s back in form now and there are plenty of options for him.”
