British racing’s rulers have announced that greater flexibility will be applied to the current handicap system in an effort to reduce the number of animals currently being eliminated.

The British Horseracing Board’s decision to widen the entry qualification criteria for Flat handicap races follows consultation with trainers whose horses have been denied a run since last month’s overhaul of the system.
