McEvoy takes Warrsan ride

Australian jockey Kerrin McEvoy will keep the plum ride on multiple Group One winner Warrsan in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

The pair teamed up to land the Grosser Volkswagen Preis Von Baden earlier this month, when they claimed the scalp of Mubtaker, and the six-year-old pleased trainer Clive Brittain in his work this week.

“The horse worked under Kerrin in the dark at 5.45am, and he was the only one who knew where he was going,” Brittain said today.

“Kerrin was smiling broadly when he pulled up and told me how well Warrsan had worked. He’s just four kilos short of his optimum racing weight, he will only need one more piece of work to put him spot on for France.”

Brittain is planning a four-strong attack on France next weekend with his Dubai International Airport World Trophy runner-up Var set to be supplemented for the Prix de l’Abbaye.

“Var came out of his Newbury race in tremendous form and I’ve booked Frankie Dettori to ride him in the Abbaye,” added Brittain.

“Menhoubah will go for the Prix de l’Opera over a mile and a quarter, and my Gimcrack winner Tony James is going for the Grand Criterium.”
