Derby dreams for Dubawi
Dubawi is in good order after his victory in the Dunnes Stores National Stakes at The Curragh last Sunday, with the Godolphin team already dreaming of Classic glory next year.
The son of Dubai Millennium ran out an impressive three-length winner of the Irish Group One contest and is a 10-1 favourite for the 2005 Derby, with William Hill going as short as 12-1 for the 2000 Guineas.
“Dubawi has come back very well after the win,” his trainer told www.godolphin.com.
“He is a class horse and is now unbeaten in three runs, including a Group One and a Group Three (the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket).
“I think he could be the Godolphin horse for next year’s Derby, as a mile and a half should be fine for him on his breeding.
“We have some other nice colts to look forward to, some of whom we will save for next year.
“We will take all the horses to Dubai for the winter and see how they progress. That will give us six months to dream about the Derby, the Guineas and all the big races.”
