HRI issues new guidelines to bookies

Horse Racing Ireland and the Irish National Bookmakers’ Association have published a new code of practice for on-course betting.

The code obliges bookmakers to issue a printed ticket or receipt containing information including the name of the bookie, the meeting, date, race number, name and number of the horse, the stake and the type of bet made.

The bookmaker must also price up the odds on offer on all horses no later than the PA announcement stating that the horses are leaving the parade ring.

In the event of a dispute, the bookie must inform the customer of his or her right to refer the matter to Horse Racing Ireland.
