McCoy handed 10-day ban

Tony McCoy was hit with a 10-day ban for failing to ride out for third place at Bangor this afternoon.

The champion jockey was deemed to have dropped his hands on the Jonjo O’Neill-trained Batten Down (7-2) in the cantorsport.co.uk Novices’ Handicap Chase.

The six-year-old was out of contention after taking the final fence and when McCoy momentarily eased up he was beaten a short head for third by the Tom Scudamore-ridden Finzi.

The race was won by the Richard Guest-trained 11-2 shot Time To Reflect.

McCoy will be out of action from September 21-26 and also on the 28th and 30th, in addition to October 1-2.
