Chelsea Rose landed a surprise success in the Group One Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh this afternoon as the favourites flopped.

The race was expected to be a battle between Aidan O’Brien’s Silk And Scarlet and Richard Hannon’s unbeaten filly Jewel In The Sand, but neither figured as 9-1 shot Chelsea Rose prevailed by three-quarters of a length under Pat Shanahan.

Pictavia flew home late on the outside to grab second place, while Saoire was another who finished with a flourish to claim third.
