Southwell gets green light

Southwell’s meeting this evening will go ahead after the track passed a 3.30pm inspection.

Officials decided to check conditions at the Nottinghamshire venue after 15mm of rain fell overnight and this morning.

Clerk of the course Jon Pullin said: “We had one area of concern, but Dale Gibson has been down to look at it and he is happy, as we are, that we can race.

“Racing will be on a harrowed surface rather than the rolled finish that we normally have, and the going will be slow.”

Southwell’s six-race card gets under way at 5.10, and afterwards the course will close for 11 weeks for track refurbishment.
