Dettori denied in flying visit to Italy

Frankie Dettori had to settle for second place at Varese last night after making a mad dash from Ascot to Italy.

Dettori was in action at the Shergar Cup meeting yesterday before rushing off to partner the Bruno Grizzetti-trained Pagnotella in the Listed Criterium Varesino.

However, the filly, who is owned by top fashion designer Roberto Cavalli, could finish only runner up to Grizzetti’s other runner Love Money (Mirco Demuro) in the mile race.
