Rakti to take York option
Michael Jarvis has opted against dropping his stable star Rakti back to a mile for next week’s Cantor Odds Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.
The impressive winner of the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot last month, Rakti proved a major disappointment when pulling his way to a heavy defeat in the Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown on his latest outing.
But rather than switch back in trip and take in Goodwood next Wednesday, Jarvis has decided to stick with the original plan and head for York and the Juddmonte International Stakes with the five-year-old.
“He will go for the Juddmonte, it would be great not to have the extra 85 yards to worry about but he has fully proven himself over a mile and a quarter,” the Newmarket trainer said.
