Breeders' Cup option for Ouija

Connections of Ouija Board are considering a trip to America for the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf in October.

The big race at Lone Star Park in Texas is one of the ambitious options open to Lord Derby’s dual Oaks winner.

She became the 10th horse to win both the English and Irish versions of the middle-distance Classic when successful at the Curragh on Sunday.

“We haven’t ruled out the Breeders’ Cup. There’s an option of the fillies and mares race later on, the Champion Stakes, the Arc and all those sort of races.

“There is a supplementary fee for the Breeders’ Cup. It’s in Texas, so we are going to find out a bit more,” trainer Ed Dunlop told At The Races today.

The Newmarket trainer reported the daughter of Cape Cross to be in good form.

“She’s come out of the race well,” he said.

“It was a lot of pressure to see her win again and she’s a joy – a dual Oaks winner. It doesn’t come much better than that.”

York is set to be Ouija Board’s next port of call for either the Juddmonte International or the Yorkshire Oaks, and it seems increasingly likely that she could take on older fillies for the first time in the latter race.

“We’re almost certain to go for the Yorkshire Oaks rather than the Juddmonte, but we’ll keep an eye on the race.

“We’ll see how she is. We’ll give her a week off this week and then we’ll take it from there,” he added.
