Trader captures Deauville prize
Michael Blanshard’s sprint star The Trader justified favouritism at Deauville today as he took the Group Three Prix de Ris-Orangis.
The six-year-old was produced down the outside by Fergus Sweeney to swoop on last year’s winner Swedish Shave before going away to win easily by two lengths at odds of 2-1.
Swedish Shave held on to second, with Vasywait a further two lengths adrift in third in the six-furlong contest.
The Trader was picking up his second Group Three event this season, having taken the Prix de Saint-Georges at Longchamp in May.
He also filled third place in the Group Two Prix du Gros-Chene at Chantilly last month, taking his prizemoney to €84,000 in France this campaign.
