Song ends Attraction's winning streak
Soviet Song inflicted the first defeat on Attraction by winning the UAE Equestrian And Racing Federation Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket in England today.
Attraction made the running until challenged by the year-older filly a furlong out and James Fanshawe’s charge went on to score in great style in the hands of Johnny Murtagh.
Soviet Song was the 11-4 second favourite with Attraction, beaten for the first time in nine races, the 4-5 market leader.
Attraction was sent to the front after just a few strides and set a steady gallop under Kevin Darley, with Soviet Song settled at the rear of the field.
Although Attraction held a two-length lead two furlongs out, she did not have all her rivals at full stretch.
Murtagh pulled Soviet Song to the outside to make his challenge and went on to score by two and a half lengths. French raider Baqah was a similar distance away third.
