Frankie off to winning start at Ascot
Frankie Dettori got off to a flyer on the second day of Royal Ascot by taking the opening the Jersey Stakes on Kheleyf.
The Godolphin colt was beaten at odds-on in the Norfolk stakes twelve months ago, but he made no mistake this time as he took the Group Three contest at 6-1.
Fokine, the 11-2 favourite, was second with Kheleyf’s stablemate Cartography (8-1) third.
Simon Crisford, racing manager for Godolphin, told BBC Sport: "He's a good horse, with loads of class and loads of ability. It's a great achievement for all the Godolphin team and the boys back home, who have really persevered with him and given him a lot of time.
“Frankie billed him as top notch last year, but during the winter we took the decision not to go for the Guineas as he’s a horse with potential but who has had his problems.”
