Tote back in betting ring

After an absence of nearly 25 years in the UK, the tote will return to the betting ring when it will have a pitch on the rails on the opening day of Royal Ascot.

Totesport announced today that it will be represented on the rails at 48 racecourses across the United Kingdom.

This development, that enables punters to have access to totesport prices in the betting ring, will start on Tuesday.

Gary Wiltshire, who has been an on-course bookmaker, will operate the pitches under the totesport banner. He will also be responsible for releasing and updating totesport ante-post prices to the media on-course.

Wiltshire said: “I am very excited to be joining totesport as their on-course representative. From Folkestone to Ayr, totesport will be there. I am very impressed by the new brand and see this as an exciting new challenge not only for me, but also for the organisation.”

Joe Scanlon, managing director of totesport, commented: “This is an excellent opportunity for totesport and yet another way in which our customers can bet with us.

“Not only will they be able to bet with totepool, in our racecourse cash betting shops and with totesport club, but they will also be able to soak up the atmosphere in the betting ring and still place their bets with totesport.”
