One Cool Cat to miss Ascot

Aidan O’Brien has all but ruled out a trip to Royal Ascot for One Cool Cat.

The Storm Cat colt has been off the track since finishing 13th of 14 runners in the UltimateBet.com 2000 Guineas last month.

He was sent off favourite for the Classic and it was later reported that One Cool Cat had an irregular heartbeat after the race.

One Cool Cat was then forced to miss the Irish 2000 Guineas after failing to scope 100% clean two days before the race and O’Brien is now planning to drop to Group Three company for his next race.

He told the Racing Post: “Because of the things that happened with One Cool Cat we gave him a break and it looks as if he won’t make Royal Ascot.

“We’re looking at the International Stakes over a mile at the Curragh on July 17 as the race to start him back in.”

One Cool Cat holds entries for both the Golden Jubilee Stakes and the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot but O’Brien is likely to be represented by Antonius Pius in the latter race.
