Yeats fine after fitness scare

Aidan O’Brien has issued an upbeat bulletin on his Vodafone Derby favourite Yeats.

On Saturday the Ballydoyle trainer revealed that the son of Sadler’s Wells had been stiff following a routine piece of work on Friday.

However, speaking from the Curragh on Sunday afternoon he said: “There is nothing to be worried about and I was happier with him today than I was yesterday.

“If it had been any other of my horses I wouldn’t have said anything, but it was the fact he is the Derby favourite, so we thought it only fair to let everybody know.

“He’ll probably do his final piece of work towards the end of this week and his plans haven’t been changed at all.”

O’Brien also had news of One Cool Cat, who was forced to miss the Boylesports Irish 2000 Guineas after picking up a low-grade infection.

“He didn’t scope clear on Thursday morning so we put him on a course of antibiotics,” he said.

“Hopefully he will appear at Royal Ascot.”
