Powerscourt made all to take the Group One Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh this afternoon.

Aidan O’Brien’s four-year-old was making his seasonal bow in the extended 10-furlong race, and jockey Jamie Spencer had him smartly into his stride and set a steady early pace.

Turning for home, Powerscourt still had the verdict over Godolphin’s runner Naheef but Spencer kicked on and the son of Sadler’s Wells quickly moved clear.

Although Livadiya launched a late challenge down the outside, she was never going to get to the 100-30 second favourite as he powered home by six lengths.

Nysaean, who is trained by Richard Hannon, was sent off the 9-10 favourite but he could finish no better than third.
