Russian Blue puts one on the board for O'Brien

Russian Blue maintained his unbeaten record when landing the Listed Morris Marble Hill Stakes at the Curragh today.

Aidan O’Brien’s charge, who carries the colours of the late Robert Sangster, was landing his third race on the bounce and did not have to be at his best to see off his three rivals.

The son of Danehill was always in command in the five-furlong dash, and despite Kay Two and L’Altro Mondo snapping at his heals in the final furlong, held on to score by a length at odds of 1-5.

“He’s a smashing horse,” said O’Brien. “He just cantered up there today and will now go for the Coventry.”

And following the scratching of his One Cool Cat from the feature 2000 Guineas, joked: “It was nice to get one on the board today.”
