Promising Post misses Newmarket date
Post And Rail, who beat subsequent totesport Dante Stakes winner North Light on his only start last term, will not be risked this weekend.
The son of Silver Hawk defeated Sir Michael Stoute’s Derby hope by a short head at Sandown last August.
But he has not been seen on a racecourse this season after he fractured a leg and though he is almost ready to return, trainer Ed Dunlop has decided he will not run in the Listed Haven And British Holidays Fairway Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.
Dunlop said: “He’s a lovely horse who has had his problems and they are well documented.
“We were going to aim him at the Royal Lodge, but he broke down. He won’t run this weekend and there are no immediate plans for him. He’s been a bit up and down. It is just one of those things.
“But with the ground the way it is, it is too firm. We are just going to wait with him.
“I know he has beaten the Dante winner, but he has no entries and is too nice to risk. He may not be seen for a while, but we will see.”
