Frankie Dettori admitted to being “gutted” today over the whip ban he picked up at York on Wednesday.

But he said he would not be appealing against the four-day suspension, handed out after Rule Of Law finished second to North Light in the totesport Dante Stakes.

It means that the popular Italian will miss key rides for Godolphin in the Boylesports Irish 1000 Guineas and Tattersalls Gold Cup, where he was due to partner Sulamani.

“I’m devastated, absolutely gutted. But I won’t be appealing,” Dettori said. “I had a good look at the tape last night and there is just no point.

“I can’t explain how disappointed I was yesterday, particularly as I rode Sulamani in the morning and he had worked brilliantly.

“But that’s life, I’ve got to live with it.”
