Ian Williams’ stable star Batman Senora is firmly on course for the Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris (French Gold Cup) at the end of the month.

The eight-year-old landed a Listed hurdle contest at Auteuil on Sunday and has come out of the race well, according to the trainer.

“Batman ran very well and it was an ideal race for him. Now we look forward to the Gold Cup in three weeks’ time,” the Midlands handler said on his website, www.ianwilliamsracing.com

“Batman’s confidence jumping fences had not been hampered by his defeat at Leopardstown over Christmas, but winning on Sunday will have done plenty for his overall well-being.

“He has come out of the race really well and is in good shape.”

Williams was also able to eye the opposition as likely favourite for the race, Kotkijet, also won his prep race on the same card.
